Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. His first role was in Dazed and Confused in 1991. He had smaller roles in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Unsolved Mysteries and several music videos before getting his break in A Time To Kill (1996), the film adaptation of the novel.
He moved to working in romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. He was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2005, and resumed romantic comedy work in the 2006 film Failure to Launch. He worked on Tropic Thunder in 2006.
In 2012, fearing he would get typecast, McConaughey took roles in Magic Mike and Dallas Buyers Club, the latter of which earned him acclaim and several acting awards, including a Golden Globe, Academy Award and SAG. He also had supporting roles in The Wolf of Wall Street and Interstellar.
